Marinkovic Ljubodrag Penkin was born 22.May.1923 in Prilep Macedonia, (Kindom of Yugoslavija) .
His father, Aleksandar Marinkovic was a senior accountant with Ministry of Justice  of the Kingdom of Yugoslavija, born in Belgrade, 3. March 1893.

In 1951 he received his diploma of University of Belgrade Faculty of Applied Arts section of the decorative painting under the direction of Professor Vinko Grdan and Vasa Pomorisac and the gravure art under the direction of Professor Mihajlo Petrov.

He majored in fresco painting and realization of murals under the direction of Pierre-Henri Ducos de La Haille in Ecole Superieur des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

He continued his studies at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris under the direction of the mannerist painter André Lhote.

From 1953 to 1964 he was professor at Art School in Skoplje. In 1964 he became a professor of decorative painting and drawings at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.

From 1978 to 1992, he taught decorative oil painting in Summer Academy of Arts in Luxembourg that was operated under the CEPA (Centre Pour la Promotion des Arts formerly known as Cercle Européen pour la Propagation des Arts)

From 1956 to 1978 he was a special associate of the National Museum for the needs of copying the frescoes in the following  monasteries: Decani, Lesnovo, Gracanica, Virgin Ljeviška, Manasija, Arilje, and many others. which are exhibited in the Gallery of Frescoes in the permanent exhibition and presented to the public in the exhibition, which was staged at the National Museum of the country and abroad.

He retired from University of Belgrade in 1991 and from CEPA in 1992. His art works can be found in many galleries and private collections in France, Britain, Italy, Luxembourg, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Germany, Suisse, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, Norway, Canada, and the United States.Ljubodrag Marinkovic Penkin was a member of the Association of Applied Artists of Serbia (ULUS).
He died on February 15th 2022, in his home, surronded by his daughter and his son in law.
