         Exhibition: Yugoslavian Enformel 1959-1966
"Penkin chose nonfigural art, which can be understood as a landscape and still life as well. This resembles to a large extent on the Italian version of Surrealism, known as "pittura metafisica".
This phase has saturated with Penkin's  rational spirit, where a feeling a sense of composition. has a major role. "

Pavle Vasić (Exhibition introduction: "Penkin - 25 years of artistic work" Belgrade 1976)

"Penkin is in the great and noble tradition of medieval fresco wall painting
that reached its apogee in the territory of the Balkans* 12th and 13th centuries.
These painters were not only given extraordinary work that adorn the walls of
churches and monasteries, but they have updated these places of worship,
the essential themes of religion, which is cultured and it expresses the themes
that are also the very foundations of civilization and culture.
Penkin has modernized and adopted this procedure.
It's themes are no longer religious but philosophical, artistic, existential."
